Litelab Corp. DualScan

The Litelab "DualScan" light was a favorite fixture of lighting designers. It's small package threw a moving "Z" pattern of light on dance floors, and made it attractive to those with space limitations.
Pulsations however, took advantage of this luminare in a few ways. Every Red Zone/Chase pole had one of these mounted on the bottom. The long throw of light these could put out and continuous duty-cycle called these lights to be on frequently. There were 10 of these also mounted in the Spaceship. The first photo shows the light severely damaged after vandals cut off the zone/chase pole and let it smash on the floor. This light took the brunt of the impact. Can we bring it back to life?.. Quoting Pulsar, "Shit Yeah"!!

Bringing it back to life

Our metal fabricators and electronics technicians got to work on restoring this fixture. A few months was spent on bringing this one back to life. New motors from Multi-Corp in Illinois were able to manufacture new ones for us from samples we sent them. The metal frames were re-bent and pressed, and new chrome reflective skin was applied.

Final Results

After replacing the internal (4515) par36 lamp, new Lexan glass, and AC power cord, this fixture came back to life nicely. As of August, 2006 we have restored 4 of these fixtures back to working conditions.
